The Reading Challenge from the Cornwall Library Service

Today we welcomed Sarah and Lilly-Rose from Redruth Library into our KS1 and KS2 assemblies. Their visit was to share information about the upcoming Summer Reading Challenge from the Cornwall Library Service. It would be great to see as many families as we can, sharing their love of reading over the summer break and seeing what our local library has to offer. Lego club, coding club and other fantastic opportunities were mentioned as well as the chance to win a medal in the annual reading challenge. Sarah and the team look forward to welcoming you soon.

Jo Lumber from Falmouth Art Gallery
Wheal Lovely and Wheal Friendly were visited by Jo Lumber from Falmouth Art Gallery today who leads the storytelling programme 'Tell Us A Story'. Jo worked with each class on our story of the week 'The Three Little Pigs', where they worked in collaboration to re-tell the story and worked together to represent the main parts of the story through art with a focus on language and vocabulary.
In class we followed our predictions from earlier in the week to test which of the three little pigs houses would be the strongest. The children worked in groups to build a house of straw, a house of sticks and a house of bricks and tested which one the big bad wolf could huff and puff down.

John the Storyteller

The children had a wonderful morning yesterday with John the storyteller. He told the children a unique tale using a range of traditional tale story characters. The children listened with awe and wonder, and lots of giggles, as John described funny scenes of his own version of fairytales as well as traditional tales from other cultures and our own Cornish traditions

Non-chronological Report
